Government Worsens Inflation — But “We’ll Send a Cheque” For That

I pressed the government about every Canadian’s biggest concern – inflation and the cost of living. Why is the government so determined to make inflation worse by overspending and increasing taxation, both of which cause inflation to go up, which causes interest rates to go up?

The government’s response – listen here – is essentially that it has Canadians’ backs because it dribbles out a bit of cash to some families. It is an “in-and-out” scheme – they take a lot out of your pocket, and return a little bit back, and expect you to be grateful.

A much better strategy would be to dampen inflation and interest rates in the first place. A caring government would choose that path.
