Restoring Fiscal Discipline and Investment Confidence
In my remarks on Bill C-30 and the government’s spring economic statement, I raised serious concerns about what I see as a continued lack of fiscal discipline in Ottawa. Over the past several years, I’ve watched a pattern emerge—one where announcements are plentiful, but meaningful results are harder to find. Canadians deserve more than headlines and signatures; they deserve transparency, accountability, and real outcomes. Parliament must play its proper role in scrutinizing decisions and ensuring policies reflect the interests of Canadians across the country.
“This government has created an economic and investment climate in this country that does not work if we want a return on capital.”

I also spoke about the growing challenges facing Canada’s investment climate. Right now, uncertainty around regulations, taxation, and resource development is holding us back. We should be creating an environment where businesses and investors have confidence—where the rules are clear and consistent. Instead, many Canadian pension funds are investing abroad, which speaks volumes about the lack of competitiveness here at home. Our resource sector remains one of the strongest contributors to our economy, and we need to support it with stable, transparent policies that encourage investment, job creation, and long-term growth.
At the same time, I want to acknowledge that there are areas where the government has taken steps in the right direction, including increased support for skilled trades training. That’s something I strongly support and have long advocated for. However, we cannot lose sight of the bigger picture: rising deficits and mounting debt that place a burden on future generations. We need a more disciplined and focused approach to spending, along with greater urgency in areas like defence and economic development. I encourage you to watch my full remarks in the video to hear my perspective in detail and understand why these issues matter for Canada’s future.
