Police officers are calling out Liberal failed policies that are putting Canadians at risk
The Prime Minister attempted to brag about banning firearms from law-abiding firearms owners while continuing to ignore the crime wave he has unleashed across the country by eliminating minimum sentences for gun offences (C-5), and making bail easy (C-75).
As a result, the Toronto Police Association had to fact-check him and point out that shootings are up 45% and gun-related homicides are up 62% in Toronto in just the last year.
The Toronto Police Association, Vancouver Police Union, and Surrey Police Union have all put out statement condemning the Liberals’ record on gun crime:
“Criminals did not get your message. Our communities are experiencing a 45% increase in shootings and a 62% increase in gun-related homicides compared to this time last year. What difference does your handgun ban make when 85% of guns seized by our members can be sourced to the United States?”
Toronto Police Association
“Guessing he’s not aware of the ongoing gang war here in B.C. which is putting both our members and public at risk on a daily basis.”
Vancouver Police Union
“The federal handgun freeze fails to address the real issue: the surge of illegal firearms coming across our borders and ending up in the hands of violent criminals.”
Surrey Police Union
The Liberal MP who responded to me in Question Period today blamed the Conservatives, saying the Harper government cut border guards.
Not true. In fact, CBSA staff increased in the Harper administration from 12,763 in 2006 to 13,934 in 2014. So not an accurate talking point from the Liberal bench, Ms. O’Connell.
In Calgary
In Calgary, violent gun crimes are up 371% over the 9 years of the Liberal government according to Statistics Canada
