Fiscal Anchors or Political Drift? Why Canadians Deserve Real Accountability

The government has once again moved the goalposts on its so-called “fiscal anchors.” When targets are missed, they simply redefine the terms—and this year’s new anchors are so weak they’re practically meaningless.

Changing definitions to fit a narrative erodes trust and undermines accountability. Canadians deserve stability and transparency, not political spin. Our fiscal position is adrift, and this budget shows no real commitment to responsibility.
