The House of Commons held an Emergency Debate on the tragic situation unfolding in Sudan. The Minister spoke about efforts to get Canadians safely out of Sudan, but I also urged the Minister of Foreign Affairs to expedite applications for the family members of Canadian permanent residents. Current applications already filed can take 40 months to process, and in the meantime, those family members still in Sudan are in extreme danger.
