Canadians Are Hungry for Answers—Where’s the Budget?
While Canadians are tightening their belts, the Liberal government is loosening theirs—again.
The average Canadian family is expected to spend $800 more on food this year. That’s not just inflation—it’s inflation driven by government decisions. The Calgary Food Bank reports that 65% of working Calgarians are now experiencing severe food insecurity. These aren’t just statistics—they’re real families, real kids, and real dinner tables coming up short.
Meanwhile, the government is planning to increase spending by 8%, despite promising to cap it at 2%. That’s not fiscal discipline—it’s a supersized deficit with a side of broken promises.
And yet, the Liberals are still refusing to table a budget.
Greg asked in Question Period:
“Will the government set the table, show Canadians the menu, and finally serve up this year’s budget?”
Because the longer they delay, the more Canadians pay. And let’s be honest—this government’s inflationary spending only hurts Canadians who eat.
Greg followed up with a second question:
“Will the government stop driving up costs and bring forward a budget that helps Canadians feed their families without going further into debt?”
The answer should be simple. Canadians deserve a government that puts food on the table—not more debt on the books.
